Tips & Tricks

TIP

When it comes to furniture placement, take a look at how your rooms are laid out. Remember buyers usually travel in threes; therefore you want to position your furniture so that when they are touring your home, all the rooms feel spacious and open.

TRICK

If you have young children, the possibility of having marker on your carpet maybe very likely...No worries…use Purel or Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Believe it or not it works like a charm.

TIP

If you have dated wood cabinets, think about painting them. If you have dark counters, paint the cabinets a lighter colour; and if you have light counters, go with a darker colour cabinet. Make sure to clean the cabinets before sanding and painting. Remember to paint the front and back of the doors as well as the trim around the cabinets. Final touch...change the knobs to give your cabinets an updated look.

TIP

Make sure all closets are organized. Pre-pack off season items as well as items you don't use on a daily basis. Buyers want to see how much storage there is, so you need to show them. Try to get as much off the floor of the closest as possible.

TRICK

Make your house sparkle. You want to clean ever inch of your home!

Buyers want to purchase a house that is well maintained so that they can move in with as little work as possible.

TIP

No time to clean your paint brush? Want to save your roller for the second coat? Place your roller or brush in a Ziploc bag or plastic bag and store it in a cool spot (could be the fridge or freezer) during painting breaks or overnight. Be sure there is no excess air in the bag. Let it warm up for a few minutes before you start again.
