Curb” Their Enthusiasm with Colour

Thursday :: Apr 8, 2010

April is here (and here come the showers!) so it’s time to start thinking about kicking your curb appeal up a notch. There are a lot of things you can do outside with colour that will make your home more attractive.
-First, evaluate the paint job outdoors. Take a step back and see if there are any places that need some attention. Your exterior might require some help if you have an outdated colour choice like amint green or a powder blue front door. This is an easy and quick change. If you already have a door colour that works well with your fixed elements, put a fresh coat of paint on to brighten it up. If you are selecting a new colour, make sure it compliments any brickwork, shingles or siding (fixed elements).
--The garage door stumps a lot of people, but remember that it and the front door shouldn’t match but compliment one another. The colour of the garage door should be along the same lines as the exterior colour of your home to blend in. Let the front door colour be the focal point as a welcome invitation to guests.
-Finally, if you love colour, this is the time to go crazy...with plants! Find flowers and foliage that highlight your front door. Add a beautiful arrangement in a pot on either side of the door or your garage to welcome in prospective buyers.
